Add a published form to your site.

Use Joomla's native module positions, menu assignments and access controls to place your FormBuilder form.

1. Install the extension

Use Joomla 6.1.3 or a later 6.1 patch release, PHP 8.3 or later, MySQL/MariaDB, OpenSSL and cURL. Download the complete package and install it in System → Install → Extensions. Keep the package ZIP intact: it installs the FormBuilder module and its required AJAX plugin together.

2. Prepare your form

Sign in at FormBuilder. Create and publish a public form. Contact, inquiry, feedback, registration and file-upload forms are supported; forms that require payment are excluded from this integration.

In your FormBuilder account settings, create an API key with read-only forms access (forms:read). Use a dedicated key so you can revoke this connection without affecting other integrations.

3. Connect and select

In Joomla, open Content → Site Modules, create a FormBuilder module and save it once. Its connection controls become available after this first save. Paste the API key, select Connect, load your forms, choose one and save the form selection. The key field clears after connection.

Connection and form-selection actions save immediately. Joomla's Save button separately saves the module's title, height, position, publication status and page assignments.

4. Publish and test

Choose an available template position and the pages and access level where the module should appear. Publish the module and save. On your site, select its “Open form” button, send a test response, and verify the response in FormBuilder. Check the layout on desktop and a phone. Adjust the module's form height if necessary.

Responses and privacy

Responses and attachments are stored in FormBuilder, not in Joomla. The module stores the connection key encrypted in your Joomla database using your Joomla installation secret. Protect the database and configuration backups together. Never share your API key in a screenshot or support message.

Updates, disconnecting and uninstalling

Use Joomla's System → Update → Extensions screen to check for FormBuilder package updates. Always back up your site first. The module and plugin update together.

Disconnect in the module's settings to remove its saved credential. Revoke the dedicated API key in FormBuilder when it is no longer needed. Uninstall the complete FormBuilder package to remove its modules and plugin; remote forms and responses are preserved.

Troubleshooting

• Connection controls unavailable: save the new module once and confirm that your Joomla account can manage and edit it.
• No forms appear: publish a public form in the same FormBuilder account, verify the key's read-only form permission, and use Load more when available.
• Module is missing: check its position, publication dates, menu assignment and access level.
• A form no longer opens: reconnect after revoking a key, and confirm the form is still public and published.
