File upload responses
Add a File Upload field to collect documents, images or other supported files with a response. Multiple files are available on Free. Respondents do not need a FormBuilder account; downloading submissions requires authorized response access.

Steps
- 1Add a File Upload field in the builder and select it to open its settings.
- 2Choose Accepted File Types, then set Maximum File Size (MB).
- 3To collect more than one attachment in this field, enable Allow multiple files and set Minimum files and Maximum files.
- 4Add a short instruction explaining which files you need. Preview the form before publishing.
- 5After a response arrives, open it in Responses. Download a file individually or choose Download all for the response’s attachments.
Per-file size, file count and account storage
- Free: up to 10 MB per file and 100 MB total account file storage.
- Pro: up to 100 MB per file and 1 GB total account file storage.
- Each field may impose a lower size limit. Multiple-file fields default to a maximum of five files; you can choose a maximum from 1 to 20.
- A response can contain at most 20 files across all upload fields. A required upload field needs at least one file.
- The account needs enough remaining storage for the files. The monthly response allowance is a separate limit.
Supported files and presets
- Presets include Documents & images, Documents, Images, PDF only, Spreadsheets, ZIP archives and Artwork.
- Supported formats include PDF, Word, Excel, CSV, text, common images, ZIP, AI, EPS, SVG, PSD, TIFF and CDR.
- All supported files accepts the supported formats, not every possible file type. Executables and unsupported formats are blocked.
Example: up to three reference photos
Choose Images, set Maximum File Size to 5 MB, enable Allow multiple files and set Maximum files to 3. Three 4 MB photos use about 12 MB of account storage, so a Free account needs at least that much storage remaining.
Private downloads
Files remain associated with their response and original filenames. Only people with authorized response access can download them. The public form link does not expose previously submitted attachments. Download all packages the response’s attachments together; if the archive is too large, download the files individually.
