The veteran all-in-one form builder with the largest template and widget catalogue, plus PDFs, e-signatures, tables, approvals and an app builder bolted on. Here's how it stacks up against FormBuilder on pricing, features, and fit — so you can pick the right tool for the forms you actually build.
100 responses / month free · No credit card · Held responses never lost
The short answer
Choose Jotform when you want one subscription to cover forms plus PDFs, e-signatures, approvals and payment collection, or you need self-serve HIPAA today. Choose FormBuilder when your job is everyday business forms — intake, lead capture, applications, orders — and you want an AI-drafted form, branding removed and 10,000 responses for $39, with overflow responses held rather than lost.
Overview
Jotform is one of the oldest and most fully featured form builders on the market. The drag-and-drop editor supports classic single-page forms and a "card" one-question-at-a-time layout, and it ships with an enormous library — around 10,000 templates, hundreds of widgets, and 100+ payment and app integrations. If you have a niche form need, there is a good chance Jotform already has a template or widget for it.
Over the years the product has grown into a small platform: Jotform Tables (a spreadsheet/database view of submissions), PDF Editor and Report Builder, Jotform Sign for e-signatures, Approvals for workflow routing, an App builder, and more recently AI Agents that can fill or answer questions about a form conversationally. All of it is bundled into the same plan tiers.
Pricing is by tier, and each tier bundles several separate limits — active forms, monthly submissions, total stored submissions, monthly form views, storage, payment submissions and signed documents. The free Starter plan is genuinely useful (5 forms, 100 submissions a month) but carries Jotform branding, and the paid tiers jump from $39 to $49 to $129 a month on monthly billing, with HIPAA only on Gold and Enterprise.
FormBuilder is an AI-first form builder with a generous free plan, held (never lost) responses, and 6,000+ integrations. You describe the form you need, the AI generator drafts it, and you refine it in a drag-and-drop editor with conditional logic, multi-page layouts, file uploads, signatures and calculations. Every response can be routed to 6,000+ apps through Zapier or webhooks. The free plan includes 100 responses a month — and if a form gets busier than that, the extra responses are held safely rather than rejected, unlocking the moment you upgrade to Pro ($39 / month for 10,000 responses).

Honest assessment
A fair read of both sides. If the strengths column describes your work, Jotform may genuinely be the better fit.
Forms, Tables, PDF Editor, Sign, Approvals, an App builder and AI Agents all live under one login. For a small business that would otherwise stitch together three or four tools, that bundle is real value.
Native integrations with Stripe, PayPal, Square, Authorize.net and dozens more, with product lists, subscriptions and coupons — and Jotform takes no cut of the transaction.
Around 10,000 templates and hundreds of widgets (image pickers, appointment slots, e-signature, geolocation, checklists) mean niche forms rarely have to be built from scratch.
Gold includes HIPAA features and a BAA without going through an Enterprise sales cycle — rare among form builders.
Each tier caps forms, monthly submissions, total stored submissions, monthly views, storage, payments and signatures separately. Hitting any one of them triggers upgrade warnings, and forms are disabled when monthly submissions run out.
The $39 Bronze plan is 1,000 submissions a month; 10,000 needs Gold at $129. FormBuilder Pro is $39 for 10,000 with branding removed.
Sharing a form for a colleague to edit or a shared workspace requires Enterprise; below that, collaboration is limited to sharing submission tables and approvals.
The builder is powerful but dense — settings are spread across many panels and products, and the older interface can feel slow next to a focused, AI-first builder.
Switching
Most teams migrate a handful of forms in an afternoon. Here's the practical path.
Open each form in Jotform Tables → Download → CSV or Excel. Download any uploaded files you need from the submissions view before your plan's storage cleanup removes them.
Paste your Jotform field list (or describe the form) into FormBuilder's AI generator. Add pages, conditional logic, calculations and signature fields in the editor.
Point Google Sheets, Slack, your CRM or email tool at the new form through Zapier (6,000+ apps) or a webhook. Rebuild any payment step via Stripe or a Zapier workflow.
Replace the Jotform embed or link with your FormBuilder one, then disable the Jotform form so nothing continues to land in the old account.
Questions
Yes for most everyday business forms. FormBuilder gives you a drag-and-drop and AI-assisted builder, conditional logic, multi-page forms, file uploads, signatures, webhooks and Zapier, with 100 free responses a month and a $39 Pro plan for 10,000 responses. Jotform is still the better fit if you also need built-in PDF generation, Jotform Sign documents, approval workflows or a wide choice of payment gateways.
Jotform is a broad suite — forms plus Tables, PDF Editor, Sign, Approvals, an App builder and AI Agents — priced in tiers with several stacked limits. FormBuilder is a focused, AI-first form builder for intake, lead capture, applications and orders, with a simpler two-plan structure and responses that are held rather than dropped when you exceed a limit.
Jotform is free for 5 forms and 100 submissions a month, then $39 (Bronze, 1,000 submissions), $49 (Silver, 2,500) and $129 (Gold, 10,000) per month on monthly billing, or $34 / $39 / $99 on annual billing. FormBuilder is free for 100 responses a month and $39 a month for 100 forms and 10,000 responses with branding removed.
Yes. The Starter plan is free and allows 5 active forms, 100 submissions a month, 500 stored submissions in total, 100 MB of storage and 10 payment submissions a month, with Jotform branding on your forms. It is one of the more usable free tiers among form builders.
On Jotform you get warnings as you approach the monthly limit, and once it is reached your forms stop accepting submissions until the next cycle or an upgrade; exceeding storage can also cause the oldest submissions to be removed. On FormBuilder, responses beyond your plan's limit are held — the form keeps working and the held responses unlock as soon as you upgrade.
Removing the Jotform badge requires a paid plan, starting at Bronze for $39 a month ($34 on annual billing). On FormBuilder, branding removal is part of the $39 Pro plan, which also includes 100 forms and 10,000 responses a month.
Yes. Jotform offers HIPAA features and a BAA on its Gold plan ($129 a month, $99 annual) and on Enterprise. FormBuilder's HIPAA plan with BAA support is $99 a month and is currently rolling out.
You can export your submission data from Jotform Tables as CSV or Excel. Form structures can't be transferred directly, but you can paste your field list into FormBuilder's AI generator to recreate the form in seconds and then fine-tune it in the editor.
