A document-style form builder where you type a form like a page — great for order forms, bookings and payments, priced by yearly submissions. Here's how it stacks up against FormBuilder on pricing, features, and fit — so you can pick the right tool for the forms you actually build.
100 responses / month free · No credit card · Held responses never lost
The short answer
Choose Paperform when the form is also your storefront or booking page — you need native payments, products, coupons or scheduling, and you like building forms like documents. Choose FormBuilder when you want a quicker AI-assisted builder for everyday business forms, more submissions per dollar with branding removed at $39, a custom domain without a surcharge, and the safety of held responses when you go over a limit.
Overview
Paperform takes a different approach from most builders: you write a form the way you would write a document. Headings, images, paragraphs and questions live in one free-flowing editor, so a Paperform can double as a landing page, a product page or a booking page. That editing model is the product's identity — it produces attractive, content-rich forms without a separate page builder.
Its commercial features are unusually deep for a form tool. Native payments through Stripe, Square, PayPal, Braintree and Mollie, a product catalogue with quantities and coupons, appointment scheduling, calculations, and an AI calculations assistant make it a genuine fit for taking orders, deposits and registrations. It also ships a sibling e-signature product, Papersign, plus a native integrations catalogue alongside Zapier and Make.
Pricing is per-year submissions rather than per month. The free plan allows 30 submissions a month with Paperform branding; Essentials ($24 / mo billed annually) gives 1,200 submissions a year, Pro ($49 / mo) 12,000 a year with branding removed, and Business ($99 / mo) 120,000 a year with SSO. Custom domains cost an extra $20 a month per domain on Pro. HIPAA is not currently offered.
FormBuilder is an AI-first form builder with a generous free plan, held (never lost) responses, and 6,000+ integrations. You describe the form you need, the AI generator drafts it, and you refine it in a drag-and-drop editor with conditional logic, multi-page layouts, file uploads, signatures and calculations. Every response can be routed to 6,000+ apps through Zapier or webhooks. The free plan includes 100 responses a month — and if a form gets busier than that, the extra responses are held safely rather than rejected, unlocking the moment you upgrade to Pro ($39 / month for 10,000 responses).

Honest assessment
A fair read of both sides. If the strengths column describes your work, Paperform may genuinely be the better fit.
Multiple gateways, a product list with quantities and stock, coupons, deposits and subscriptions are built into the form itself. Few general-purpose builders come close for order forms and paid registrations.
The document-style editor lets you mix headings, images, video and copy with questions, so a single Paperform can be a landing page, a booking page and a checkout in one URL.
Calculations, scoring, conditional content and an AI calculations assistant handle quotes, quizzes and pricing estimates without external tools.
Appointment scheduling is native, and Papersign covers document signing, so service businesses can run intake, booking and contracts from one vendor.
30 submissions a month and only 5 payment submissions means the free tier is for evaluation, not for running a real form.
Essentials still shows minimal Paperform branding; you need Pro to remove it fully, and a custom domain is another $20 a month on top.
Limits are counted per year, so a busy quarter can consume most of an allowance early. Going over means buying top-ups or upgrading rather than having submissions held for you.
Paperform does not sign BAAs today, and the document-style editor, while flexible, is slower than a simple field-by-field builder for plain intake or contact forms.
Switching
Most teams migrate a handful of forms in an afternoon. Here's the practical path.
In Paperform, open each form → Submissions → Export to CSV. Do this per form and keep the files as your archive; payment records also live in your gateway dashboard.
Copy the questions from your Paperform and paste them into FormBuilder's AI generator. It drafts fields, types and required flags; add pages, logic and calculations in the editor.
Reconnect Stripe, Sheets, your CRM or email tool through Zapier (6,000+ apps) or webhooks. If you sold products through the form, map each product to a Stripe checkout step.
Replace the Paperform URL or embed code with the FormBuilder one, and point any custom domain or redirect at the new form so existing links keep working.
Questions
For most everyday forms, yes. FormBuilder gives you an AI generator, drag-and-drop editing, conditional logic, multi-page forms, file uploads, webhooks and Zapier, with 100 free responses a month and a $39 Pro plan for 10,000. Paperform is still the better fit if you need native multi-gateway payments, product catalogues or booking built into the form.
Paperform is a document-style editor where forms read like pages and can sell products, take payments and book appointments; it counts submissions per year. FormBuilder is a conventional field-based builder with an AI generator, aimed at intake, lead capture, applications and registrations, with monthly limits, held over-limit responses and a flat $39 Pro plan.
Paperform is free for 30 submissions a month, then $24 / mo (1,200 submissions a year), $49 / mo (12,000 a year, branding removed) and $99 / mo (120,000 a year) on annual billing, with custom domains at $20 / mo extra on Pro. FormBuilder is free for 100 responses a month and $39 / mo for 10,000 responses a month with branding removed and a custom domain included.
Yes. The free plan allows 30 submissions a month, unlimited forms, one user, 100 MB of storage and up to 5 payment submissions a month, with Paperform branding on the form. It is fine for testing but most live forms will need Essentials or Pro.
You can export submissions from Paperform as CSV, but form layouts cannot be transferred directly. The fastest way to move is to paste your Paperform questions into FormBuilder's AI generator, which rebuilds the form in seconds, then reconnect integrations.
Paperform notifies you as you approach your yearly allowance and expects you to upgrade or buy a top-up to avoid disruption. On FormBuilder, responses beyond your plan's cap are held — the form keeps accepting submissions and the held ones unlock when you upgrade.
No. Paperform does not currently sign Business Associate Agreements or claim HIPAA compliance, though it is SOC 2 Type II certified and has said HIPAA may come with a future enterprise offering. FormBuilder's HIPAA plan with BAA support is $99 a month and is currently rolling out.
Paperform has native payments through Stripe, Square, PayPal, Braintree and Mollie with products, quantities and coupons. FormBuilder has a native Stripe payment field (fixed amount, paid to your own connected Stripe account, no platform fee) which works well for fees, deposits and registrations, but it is not a full product catalogue with quantities and coupons. If selling is the main job of the form, Paperform is stronger here.
