One of the original hosted form builders — simple, dependable, and priced by monthly entries and form count. Here's how it stacks up against FormBuilder on pricing, features, and fit — so you can pick the right tool for the forms you actually build.
100 responses / month free · No credit card · Held responses never lost
The short answer
Choose Wufoo when you need a plain, stable form with a native payment field and are happy with a product that is maintained rather than developed. Choose FormBuilder when you want an AI-assisted, modern builder with a more useful free plan, held responses instead of closed forms, custom domains, and 10,000 responses for $39.
Overview
Wufoo launched in 2006 and was acquired by SurveyMonkey in 2011. It is a straightforward, single-page form builder: drag fields onto a form, set a few rules, pick a theme, and share a hosted link or embed. Millions of forms have been built on it, and much of its appeal is that it still works the way it did a decade ago — predictable, unflashy and stable.
The feature set covers the essentials of everyday business forms: field rules for conditional logic, page breaks for multi-step forms, file uploads, payment collection through Stripe, Square, PayPal and Authorize.net, a report builder for simple charts, an API and webhooks, and a Zapier connector. Notification emails, redirect rules and a theme designer round it out.
Pricing is by monthly entries and, on the lower tiers, by number of forms. The free plan allows 5 forms and 100 entries a month with a 10-field cap per form and Wufoo branding. Paid plans run from Starter ($16.25 / mo annual, 10 forms, 1,000 entries) up to Ultimate (200,000 entries), with payments, password protection and encryption unlocking on Professional. Development has slowed noticeably since the acquisition, and the product now sits alongside SurveyMonkey rather than being pushed forward on its own.
FormBuilder is an AI-first form builder with a generous free plan, held (never lost) responses, and 6,000+ integrations. You describe the form you need, the AI generator drafts it, and you refine it in a drag-and-drop editor with conditional logic, multi-page layouts, file uploads, signatures and calculations. Every response can be routed to 6,000+ apps through Zapier or webhooks. The free plan includes 100 responses a month — and if a form gets busier than that, the extra responses are held safely rather than rejected, unlocking the moment you upgrade to Pro ($39 / month for 10,000 responses).

Honest assessment
A fair read of both sides. If the strengths column describes your work, Wufoo may genuinely be the better fit.
The builder has barely changed in years, which is a feature for many users: forms behave predictably, the hosted pages load fast, and there is little to learn.
Stripe, Square, PayPal and Authorize.net payment fields are built in from Professional — a genuine, native payment field rather than an integration workaround.
Wufoo has long offered a REST API, webhooks and a Zapier connector, so developers can pull entries or push them elsewhere without upgrading.
Advanced (25,000 entries) and Ultimate (200,000 entries) mean an account can grow into serious volume without moving to an enterprise contract.
Since the SurveyMonkey acquisition the product has received few substantive updates. There is no AI generator, no signature field, no calculated fields and no custom domain support.
Five forms and 100 entries sounds fine until you hit the 10-field-per-form limit and discover there are no file uploads. Most real forms outgrow it immediately.
When you reach your monthly entry cap, the form stops accepting submissions until the month resets or you upgrade — anything past that is lost.
Themes look their age, forms are not as responsive as newer builders, and there is no HIPAA BAA, SSO or SAML at any tier.
Switching
Most teams migrate a handful of forms in an afternoon. Here's the practical path.
In Wufoo, open each form → Entries → Export → choose CSV or Excel. Download uploaded files separately if you need them, since exports contain links rather than the files themselves.
Copy the field labels from your Wufoo form (or its Form Manager preview) and paste them into FormBuilder's AI generator. Add rules, page breaks and required flags in the editor.
Reconnect Google Sheets, Mailchimp, Slack or your CRM through Zapier (6,000+ apps) or a webhook. For payment fields, connect your Stripe account in Settings → Payments.
Replace the Wufoo JavaScript or iframe embed with your FormBuilder embed, update any shared links, and set a redirect on the old Wufoo form so late visitors land on the new one.
Questions
Yes. FormBuilder covers the same everyday forms — contact, registration, order, intake — with a modern drag-and-drop editor plus an AI generator, conditional logic, multi-page forms, file uploads, webhooks and Zapier. The free plan allows 100 responses a month with full-length forms, and Pro is $39 a month for 100 forms and 10,000 responses.
Wufoo is a long-standing, deliberately simple form builder owned by SurveyMonkey; it prices by monthly entries and form count and has changed little in recent years. FormBuilder is a newer, AI-first builder with a more generous free tier, held responses when you exceed a plan, custom domains, e-signatures and calculations.
Wufoo is free for 5 forms and 100 entries a month, then $16.25 (Starter, 1,000 entries), $33.25 (Professional, 5,000), $83.25 (Advanced, 25,000) and $210.25 (Ultimate, 200,000) per month on annual billing. FormBuilder is free for 100 responses a month and $39 a month for 10,000 responses with branding removed.
Yes. Wufoo's free plan includes 5 forms, 100 entries a month and one user, but each form is limited to 10 fields, file uploads are not available, and forms carry Wufoo branding.
Wufoo closes the form and stops accepting entries until your monthly count resets or you upgrade. FormBuilder keeps the form live and holds the extra responses; they unlock as soon as you upgrade.
You can export your entries from Wufoo as CSV or Excel. Form designs can't be transferred directly, but pasting your Wufoo field list into FormBuilder's AI generator recreates the form in seconds.
No — Wufoo does not offer a BAA or a HIPAA-compliant plan at any tier. FormBuilder's HIPAA plan with BAA support is $99 a month and is currently rolling out.
Yes, from the Professional plan ($33.25 / mo annual) upward, with Stripe, Square, PayPal and Authorize.net payment fields. FormBuilder has a native Stripe payment field on every plan, including Free — connect your own Stripe account and the money goes directly to you with no platform fee.
